Higher Ground

When I was young my mom would say,
your gonna be a star some day,
with help from the lord and will to stay,
the sky’s the limit go and make the way,
I found choices to make, and answer to be found,
I’m gonna reach for the moon and aim for higher ground

If your gonna reach for the moon,
but you start to slip
you still have the stars to get your grip
If you land on a star, have to hang around,
love doesn’t matter, your still, your still on higher ground

As I grow older and get wisdom each day,
making life choices, planning my way,
life’s ups and downs may come and go,
and the road to stardom is rocky and slow,
I remember a time, my mother said to me
you’ll be any thing that you want to be

If you reach for the moon
but you start to slip
you still have the stars to get your grip
If you land on a star, have to hang around,
love doesn’t matter your still, your still on higher ground

If you reach for the moon
 but you start to slip
you still have the stars to get your grip
If you land on a star, have to hang around,
love doesn’t matter your still on higher ground

Love doesn’t matter your still on higher ground
